Primary purpose of the role
ARPANSA is seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as part of a small team of scientists and technical staff within its Australian Clinical Dosimetry Service (ACDS) to undertake the role of Audit Support Officer for a 6 month maternity leave position. The ACDS is a Government initiative to design and deliver a comprehensive dosimetry auditing program for radiotherapy across Australia.
In this role you will learn the auditing procedures employed by the ACDS and be involved with Level I remote Optically Stimulated Luminescent Dosimetry service. You will also be involved in dosimetry measurements on ARPANSA’s Linear Accelerators, equipment calibration and maintenance, and film dosimetry.
Job specific capabilities
To be considered for this position you will have experience as a physicist or radiation therapist in a field involving ionising radiation. You will have an understanding of the processes and techniques involved in dose assessment and quality systems in radiotherapy. Being familiar with Australian radiotherapy treatment practice is desirable.
You should be familiar with the fundamentals of radiation physics and dosimetry particularly as applied to clinical radiotherapy. An awareness of quality assurance activities in a therapy centre is an advantage. Experimental and analytical skills are desirable and good writing and communication skills are necessary.
You must hold Australian citizenship or possess permanent residency status leading to citizenship. This position is a designated security assessment position which will require you to successfully undertake and maintain a security clearance. ARPANSA requires all employees to undertake a Baseline Security Clearance as a condition of engagement.

This position will be offered as a non-ongoing contract for an initial period of up to 6 months, with a possibility of extension of up to three years. This position may become ongoing (permanent) in the next 12 months. Should the position become ongoing, then Order of Merit established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.
