Converge Heritage + Community (Converge) is currently looking for one or more Senior Archaeologists to join our team in our head office in Brisbane.
Established in 1996, Converge has offices in Brisbane, Hervey Bay and Cairns. Converge consults across all areas of cultural heritage, including Indigenous, built and historic heritage. Converge has a diverse range of long term clients across public and private enterprise in conjunction with a close working relationship with a number of Traditional Owner groups.
The successful applicant/s will be responsible for leading the provision of quality archaeological and heritage services to our clients. While these services will be predominantly in Queensland, some interstate work will also be included. Applicants will be responsible for the management of projects, the supervision of field teams, skills development within the company, and maintaining high quality communication with clients and Converge management.
It is preferable that applicants have at least 5 years industry experience and a demonstrated understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld) and the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. Applicants should also have an employment history which demonstrates several years of successful project management and delivery.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum B.A. Hons in Archaeology or equivalent.
This role is suited to an applicant with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in consulting archaeology, who has carried out excavation, survey and reporting under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 and the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. Demonstrated understanding of interstate and Commonwealth legislation will also be regarded highly.
You will be working within a collaborative team environment and will be expected to undertake field survey and archaeological excavations, as well as post excavation analysis and reporting. On occasion, rural or interstate projects may require periods away from home. The applicant will be required to complete projects within time and budget constraints and must be committed to maintaining high levels of communication with stakeholders.

While it is envisaged that the position will be full-time, we are open to considering more flexible working arrangements. Remuneration to be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications.
